The DirectHit™ Test Panel – Overview
The DirectHit™Test Panel for Breast Cancer is a test that can help doctors determine the best drug treatment regimen for women diagnosed with breast cancer. DirectHit™ provides information about the tumor that may be used in addition to the usual tests to prescribe the most effective anticancer drug treatment.
DirectHit™ examines the amount of certain proteins in a woman’s tumor. These proteins are related to how particular drugs work. After testing is complete, a report is sent to the patient’s physician making treatment recommendations. Reports are sent within six days of the scheduled testing date. DirectHit™ is the only test of its kind that may be used to recommend effective treatment for both hormonal and chemotherapeutic drugs.
DirectHit™ may only be ordered by your physician. In most cases, insurance covers the cost of the test.
